Support TwerpScan & other Twitter devs ¶
Some of you might now that I’m a freelance developer. Working on projects for my clients funds my own projects, TwerpScan being the major one. I don’t get any kind of funding for it, and pay for it myself. In my book, it’s the way it’s to be done. I don’t like the idea of VC money or credits. :) It’s cool, and kind of works for me, but to be honest, I wouldn’t complain if TwerpScan would be able to at least pay for its own server.
In the past, a few people have asked me if I accept donations. I don’t. I ponder adding seriously souped up, yet affordable premium accounts in the future — but no worries, TwerpScan will always remain a free service! It’s a possible long-term goal anyways.
In the short run, tho, there is a way to help your favourite Twitter tinkerers. By using FeaturedUsers you’d simultaneously sponsor Twitter app developers like myself and promoting yourself across a range of high quality Twitter-related sites. You buy ads at FeaturedUsers.com — ads which show your Twitter profile. These are shown to your target demographic: other Twitter users. You get new followers, and the sites get money from displaying your ads. Win-win.
The ads currently shown on TwerpScan are served by FeaturedUsers.com. I’ve used them both as an ad provider and a way to spread the TwerpScan name a bit. Setup’s really, really simple. And I like both the concept and the site itself. It’s a good business.
Recap: no donations for TwerpScan, sorry. :) But FeaturedUsers.com is mighty nice. And if you actually use my link to go there and actually decide to give them a go, I’m getting a referral bonus.
